The 2 main characters were played by teen heart throb Kuno Becker and young Anahí. Both are also known for their musical talents. This teen-oriented soap was one of the highest-rated in its time-slot.

El Privilegio de Amar is the highest-rated television program in Mexico to date, it registered an average of 34.8 percent of TV audience. The telenovela received TVyNovelas Award for Best Telenovela, in 1999.

The series consisted of 224 episodes which aried Monday through Friday at 3 P.M, intentionally for teenagers to watch after school, as is typical for most teenage & children telenovelas in Spanish networks.
