• Search queries — The titles you search for are sent to our server solely to return results. We do not log or store search queries for tracking purposes.
• Basic request data — Like most web services, our server may temporarily log IP addresses and request metadata for security and abuse-prevention purposes.

We do not require or collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information. There are no user accounts, no sign-up forms, and no login systems. You can use SimilarScreen entirely anonymously.

Cookies & Local Storage

We only use essential storage mechanisms required for the site to function:

• Next.js session cookies — Standard framework cookies necessary for page rendering and routing.
• Vote fingerprint — A locally generated identifier stored in your browser's localStorage to prevent duplicate voting. This data never leaves your device as a personal identifier.

Third-Party Services

• TMDB API — We use The Movie Database (TMDB) API to retrieve movie and TV show information including titles, posters, overviews, and cast data. Your searches are sent to TMDB's servers to fetch results. TMDB's privacy policy applies to their processing of that data.
• Advertising (Raptive) — We may partner with Raptive (formerly AdThrive/CafeMedia) to display advertisements. If enabled, Raptive may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your browsing activity. You can learn more about their data practices through Raptive's privacy policy.

Data Retention

• Votes — Anonymous vote data is stored on our servers indefinitely to maintain the quality of our recommendation system.
• localStorage data — The vote fingerprint and any related preferences are stored on your device. You can clear this data at any time through your browser's settings.

SimilarScreen is a general-audience website. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
